Iaido in Sheffield - Doshinkenyukai Iaido Sheffield Sheffield Iaido Club, Muso Shinden Ryu Kata & Iaido Koryu Kata

Iaido is a traditional martial art that develops skills with a Japanese samurai sword. The art involves the practice of formal kata or preset forms using a blunt or semi-sharp katana. Practice involves learning how to draw the sword, cut and handle the sword in various ways, shake off any imaginary blood and re-sheath the sword in a pre-set way.

In the Sheffield dojo we mainly practice Muso Shinden Ryu Iaido in our classes which is an old school derived from the Eishin Ryu which is at least 400 years old. We also occasionally invite teachers of other schools of Iaido to broaden our understanding of the use of the Japanese sword.

Iaido can be both physically and mentally quite demanding while still retaining much of the tradition, etiquette and culture of ancient Japan.

Our Iaido dojo is based at Coldwell Lane in Crosspool, Sheffield - beginners as well as experienced swordsmen and women are most welcome.
