About Iaido in Sheffield

Do Shin Ken Yu Kai - means "The friendly association for improving the spirit and character through using the sword".

The Sheffield Iaido Dojo started out over 20 years ago at Sheffield Hallam University Pearson Building in Broomgrove Road.

In March 2008 we made the move to our new Iaido Dojo at Coldwell Lane in Crosspool.

The current membership includes one 4th Dan, two 3rd Dan, three 2nd Dan, three 1st Dan, four 1st Kyu and several beginners.

We have two BKA Level 2 Coaches and three BKA Level 1 Coaches.

The Sheffield Iaido Dojo (Doshinkenyukai Sheffield) is a member of the British Kendo Association (BKA). The BKA is responsible for three art forms related to traditional Japanese swordsmanship, that is: Kendo, Iaido and Jodo.

We mainly practice both Seitei Iaido Kata and Muso Shinden Ryu Kata and these styles form the basic and advanced curriculum we follow.
